January 2023 Holidays
January is National Mentoring Month, National Hobby Month, and both Train Your Dog and Walk Your Pet Month.
Businesses that could find relevant events this month are wide ranging. Some holidays fit many businesses, such as National Sticker Day, Get to Know Your Customer Day, and Data Privacy Day.
Other holidays lean to more specific industries, like National Clean Your Desk Day and National Cut Your Energy Costs Day. You might still be able to use these holidays for your industry if it’s outside those niches, you’ll just have a challenge to be creative.
And, everyone loves a chance to share pictures of their pets, so don’t miss National Dress Up Your Pet Day!

January 2023 Activities
There are many popular activities in January.
- Here in the U.S., January is usually a time for snow outside and staying warm and cozy inside.
Business that are still working outside can share what they’re doing; while businesses who focus on hobbies, warm indoor activities, and hot drinks still have an opportunity to highlight their offerings and deals with creative posts.
- Lots of people make New Year’s Resolutions, maybe that means buying new exercise equipment or starting new habits for cooking and meal prep.
If you’re a business that has its busiest time in January, maybe you’re attracting people looking to make a change. What could you blog about that would help them make that change stick all year?
- Many students of all ages start their spring semesters in January.
While not as busy as August’s back to school time, students still have needs starting a new semester.
- Employees will start receiving tax filing information from employers and financial institutions, and the most prepared will start filing by the end of the month.
Tax preparers should be gearing up, and maybe getting those blog posts written ahead of time, so they can still have content going up during the busy season of now through April 15.
- Writing thank you cards is a popular activity, after all the holidays and gift giving in December.
If you sell cards or other thank you gifts, now might be the time to make sure your store is fully stocked, and to write a blog showcasing what you can do.
